When the Japanese occupied the Philippines during WWII they printed occupation notes in local currency. They also
pictured native themes on the currency to make the local people more comfortable when using. The term “banana
money” was the colloquial term for this money. These monies sometimes carried no serial numbers nor other unique
identifiers and were printed in unlimited quantities. This particular note has a serial number, as indicated above.
Nevertheless, occupied peoples were very reluctant to use them. All were rendered worthless immediately after World
War II. This is a 100 Peso Philippine Occupation note printed by the Japanese Government.
