bomber escort against the Japanese in China.

Vance R. McDonald - B-17 Radar Navigator. 15th
Air Force, 97th Bomb Group, 340th Bomb
Squadron. While on 18th mission, Feb 16, 1945,
shot down by AA-88 fire near Bolzano, Italy, in the
Tyrol Alps. Captured by Italians and given 2 large
glasses of white wine. When gathered with
surviving plane mates a few hours later he was
drunk. Spent 2 1/2 months in POW camp. (From
Seattle, WA, Roosevelt High '42.)

Duane Smith - Mechanic. US Army. Stationed in
Germany 1953-1955. (From Snohomish, WA, '52.)
Carried this MPC Series 521 25 cent note in his
wallet since '55 and donated to The Short Snorter

Edward J. Husarik. US Army, 82nd Airborne, 17th
Glider Division. Last mission on March 25, 1945.

Howard Stiles. US Army, 16th Signal Corps,
stationed in Verdun, France, firefighting 1952-54.

Al Skarberg. US Army, 75th Amphibious Force.
Served in the South Pacific 1942-1946.
